I was going to get a wig… November 11, 2011

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a shoe party…

Shoes, Shoemakers and the People Who Love Them

Shoemaking has a long history and one that is rich in tradition. Within the trade itself–among shoe and bootmakers–the legends, the traditions, and the history really begin with St. Crispin. St. Crispin is the patron saint of shoemakers. Since medieval times, October 25th has been celebrated as St. Crispin’s Day and the Shoemaker’s Holiday. In the past, boot and shoemakers traditionally closed their shops on this day, in celebration and commemoration.

It was different, it was fun – fancy shoes, and fab’ people.

So, when I the next day was going for a quick errand to look for a wig for Halloween – I couldn’t help seeing anything but… shoes. And the irresistible ones.

Seldom have I had so much fun as in those shoes. (Kudos to Dennise at LF Union Street and Jeffrey Campbell.) I guess it is true..

You cant always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find, you get what you need.

Enjoy,

Johanna

And continuing the theme of car campaigns from yesterday – I am sure I was the only hippie walking around with a Mercedes-Benz logo on my arm… ;O So authentic. Peace out.

OK – as an excited participant from the Blog World & New Media Expo, I download the GoldRun iPhone app, after scanning the QR code on the covered New Fort Escape model, to be launched in a couple of weeks.

Let’s see… how does this work? OK challenges, and points. I take a photo of this animated dog, on my bed per the instructions – and share on twitter or Facebook. That takes a while. Voila – that gives me one point. And a message shared…

There are more challenges with upcoming deadlines to follow. I get one point for each shared photo. Fine. So what does the competition look like? HA!

3 days in to the game, the leading participant has 911 points. Thank you – I think I have other things to do than taking photos of cute animated dogs and uploading – no matter how much I like Ford (it was my first car after all). They must have another target audience than me. It will be interesting to see what the results will be from this campaign.

Talking about car campaigns – tomorrow, Friday November 11, is the last day to vote on the Toyota Sweden Facebook page, which child charity shall get the most colorful hybrid car donated – by children, for children.

Go to Toyota Sweden Facebook page and vote! It takes two minutes. The video that they created of the children paining the car is sweet and you can only see it there… or you can see photos and listen to the music by (Swedish;) SOL Stat & Orchestra Live right below… It will make you smile.

Seriously, how often do you express appreciation for people you meet in a focused, sincere, and authentic fashion? As, taking a moment of time-out from everything else busyness going on, look into the eyes, connect and share, from your heart.

I just got a dose over FaceTime, on my iPhone. It hit me. It landed. It made my day.

Make someone elses.

Enjoy,

Johanna

Last week I worked at the Michael E. Gerber Origination Dreaming Room Facilitator Training – an entrepreneurial incubator program. One of the analogies Michael used was “being on the mat” as a martial art student. You can read about it in his twitter feed @michelegerber from last week, or read below – bottom – up.

It made me think of my coaching program at The Coaches Training Institute, who used the similar analogy of being “on the playing field”.

What are the reasons why someone would choose not to be on the mat, or not be on the playing field? What would they need? A kick in the butt? Encouragement? Self-belief? Take a moment and watch this video:

Who can you tell today to suit up and play?

Inspired – meet me on the mat,

Johanna

Haha – when double checking that I got the expression “suit up” right I stumbled on this site: Suit up or Die. ” A lifestyle inspiration for the dedicated gentleman…
Suit Up or Die is now an online magazine (in Swedish). The good news is that our inspirational blog remains… ”
