FaceRaped? or FaceLoved? November 13, 2013

Have you ever been faceraped? I have difficulties looking at that word, because it doesn’t look like a joke to me. But that is what it is. And it can be quite funny, depending on the content.

Facerape:
The act of abusing someone’s Facebook account on a computer where they have left themselves logged in. Usually results in a change of status proclaiming their sudden change in sexuality, as well as numerous wall posts to friends containing bizzare messages.
I left my Facebook account signed in on Jacob’s computer last night and he completely Faceraped me!

Face LoveEarlier this week I left my Facebook account logged-in at a friend of mine’s computer. As I realized it later I just sent a note asking if he could log out of it. What I get back is:

“I did log and close down your facebook page – but not before changing your status to “[A complete heart stroking compliment]”  😀 “

My face transformed to a big smile. The whole mental state shifted at some fundamental level. My body posture and the energy I had was different. And it lasted.

I don’t think I am the only one who reacts this way to an out-of-the-blue compliment. So if this sharing would inspire you to think a moment of the people around you, the positive about the next person you meet maybe, and share it with him or her – then I am complete.

Pay it forward – share the smiles. Post a public recognition to someone in your own name. FaceLove – yes!

Today I am grateful for… October 27, 2013

I am Grateful forI saw her post the updates every day. Every day for a year. I knew that she was going through something. And she was up to something.

Although I sang with her every week, I never asked. I witnessed, I followed. I liked and supported. Got inspired.

What she did was to post every day on Facebook what she was grateful for. Publicly, for everyone to read.

Later the following year I got an invitation to TEDx Mission City 2.0 event where she would talk, that I couldn’t attend.

Earlier this week I reached out to her and asked if there was a recording. Of course. It is a TED talk. Ideas worth sharing.  (more…)

As I sit and work I notice that Facebook has a proposed status update with the question “What is the best halloween outfit?”

Shortly after someone knocks on my door. Ohhh. Trick or treat. Should I be scared?

Outside stands my friend, in a Viking outfit and a box of (slightly demolished) cup cakes for me. “This is how I went to work today!”, she says with a big smile.

Well – that fits perfectly, and wins the Herringbone price for the best Halloween outfit, on a Global Head of HR for a Silicon Valley software company.

Happy Halloween all!

My Shoes June 2, 2012

I just had quite an interesting conversation with someone about playfulness and creativity, and how she loved the video when I jumped into the Virtual Facebook Dance Off Championship 2011 last fall. If I would jump out of my creative shoes – and leave the torch to you – what creative video would you come up with?

Wanna play?

Enjoy your weekend,

Johanna

Be Balance May 28, 2012

May 27, 2012 in San Francisco – the city is full with celebrations for the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge.

In the presidio area, there are music stages, food trucks and happening all over the place. Walking along the water by Crissy Field, there is one particular area where the busyness suddenly stops. Rock Balancer Bill Dan from Sausalito and his apprentice(?), was performing their Rock Balancing Art.

Bill Dan showed me a picture from when he started 1994. He is the only one with the title of Rock Balancer. Travels the world. Exhibiting and doing work for corporations and events.

What is the key to creating this? I asked. “Oh this? Connection.”

Want to build something special? Make a connection. And make it last.

It’s almost unreal. What would your answer have been to the question on Intel’s Facebook Page: Fake or Real?

It brings me to another question: Do you believe what you see, or do you see what you believe? What if the magical is actually real… in more situations than this. And you can make it happen.

Enjoy the day.

Get Unstuck. Savor the Success! August 20, 2010

Savor the Success posted the following on facebook this week:

Savor the Success Women entrepreneurs! We all have our ups and downs… What do you do to motivate yourself when you you need a “pick me up”?

There were many responses – including mine – here are some of them:

Allison T Moore I always remember the “why” …The reason why I do what I do. http://www.allisontmoore.com/

Tieast Smith I look at my children and that helps

Lisa Meloche I go to the bookstore and browse books while drinking hot chocolate. Somehow I always find something to inspire me there and can’t wait to implement when I return.

Bridget Hogue I dance around my home office to Motown hits…for some reason this ALWAYS works for me 🙂

Todra Payne Take a few hours off and walk along a creek not far from my house. Very relaxing.

Mendy Cleveland I put myself around people who are positive and who influence me.

Savor the Success Wow, these are FANTASTIC words of advice. Go, ladies, go!

Felicia B. Wright icecream (lol) and positive thinking…it doesn’t help to focus on negativity

Dequiana Brooks I do a couple things when I’m down: 1) Have a good chat with a funny friend who always know how to pick me back up, and 2) Remind myself of how many people I won’t be able to help if I give up now. http://www.inspiredmedia.net/

Justine LadyLuna Lackey Ug I am a Debbie Downer today. Its a simple “put one foot in front of the other” sort of day. Other days I use music, aromatherapy, good friends, and lots of laughter.

Inna Shamis Indulge in a piece of chocolate!

Judith George Go on to Ted.com and find an inspiration talk.

Debi Rose Stay connected. Attend a Meetup of like-minded women or get involved in an online discussion. Also a good hard workout!

Ruth Stroup I clear my desk.. but dancing around the office sounds so much better. Chaka Khan, Chaka Kahn.. I feel for you….

Angie Walker Griffin Listen to Lincoln Brewster songs (This is the day and Everlasting God).

Johanna Nilsson Movement for me is key. Love dance. However, Rusty Wells yoga at @urbanflow is unbeatable. Not enough words. Makes magic.

Savor the Success Movement is so important when you feel stuck… physical movement! I was feeling down the other day because all my employees were sick and I had to keep the ship moving. I decided to cook, go to a family spa… all physical movement that was healing! Love your answers, ladies. –AJK

Now – I need to say a couple of more words about that. I know yoga is not for everyone. Vinyasa Flow yoga is now for everyone. But if it is, and you don’t try it out, you miss out of a great great gift. It is Rusty Wells and the Urban Flow Yoga team I am taking about. And here are the details:

Urban Flow – Bhakti-style

1543 Mission Street

San Francisco, California 94103

415-355-YOGA.

Enjoy. What ever you need – what you put in, you get out.

Screwed or Nailed? March 22, 2010

So you got screwed today – most people nail it.

That was a joke by the associate at Wheel Works when I came in with my flat tire today. Screwed big time. I mean the screw was big. But wow what such an incident can be seamless when everything just works. AAA roadside assistance showed up after 30 minutes at no cost thanks to great insurance. I made it on time to the next meeting and Wheel Works was on the way home, with drop-off and instant service for a low cost. Meanwhile I enjoyed a cup of tea at Starbucks and got some work done on my computer – with a gift card worth $5 you have free internet during two hours per day.

I experienced something new today: traveling with my mobile office wasn’t just to bring the computer(s), the phone, and the coaching client folders. Today I traveled with the white board filled with colorful Post IT notes. Size big enough to just about fit in my Subaru Outback. I got the comment once: “Why… do you have this kind of a car? Either you are lesbian, or a great skier.” If I would have listened to my mentor in San Diego, I would be driving a truck – I wonder what the assumption would be then? Anyway – back then I didn’t respond – he could well wonder. Today I would say “no – a software designer”. I kind of like that. But I guess – that is just part of the picture.

#loving life blog # newageentrepreneur #entrepreneur #software #design #earth #facebookComing home tonight, seeing my bedroom wall without the storyboard made it look so empty. I put up a blank piece of paper and started sketching out the Meta view perspective of my idea. Pulling together the bits and pieces I have gathered in conversations with or readings by different people, and added some new. Holy moley – I think I had a eureka moment! Talk about potential – now I just need to figure out a way to make it happen… The face of the book won’t be the same… and the face of the Earth neither I guess.

Thanks for the inspiration guys and gals: My dear Dad, my bro’ Johan, Henry Kimsey-House and Leadership, Vikram Lamba, Michael E. Gerber, Laura Guy, Tim Shaw, Christine Comaford, Rob Espinosa and Sally Grisedale. I think we nailed it!
